How to report an error

Every timeline entry and coverage row carries its own "Report an error" link. It opens an email pre-filled with that entry's identifier, so an editor can find the exact row without guessing. You can also write directly to contact@matterofrecord.app.

Who reviews it, and how long it takes

Reports go to a human editor — never to an automated system, and never to the person who submitted the entry. We aim to respond within three working days. Anything alleging harm to a named private individual is looked at first.

Possible outcomes

  1. Corrected

The entry is fixed and carries a dated correction note on the entry itself from then on. We do not silently rewrite the record.

  2. Hidden

The entry is taken off public pages while we verify the source. Entries whose source link has died are hidden automatically until the link is replaced.

  3. Removed

The entry is deleted where it should never have been listed. Historical court events are never deleted to reflect a later outcome — a reversal is recorded as a new event alongside the original.
