Larry Ray Henderson Jr., a retired Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy of 33 years, was killed at about 1:05 p.m. on 2 May 2025 when he was struck by a vehicle while working a traffic detail for the University of Cincinnati's spring graduation on Martin Luther King Drive near Burnet Woods Drive, Cincinnati. Prosecutors allege the vehicle was driven by Rodney L. Hinton Jr., hours after he was shown body-camera footage of the police shooting of his son, Ryan. Hinton was indicted in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court (case B 2502219) on aggravated murder charges; death-penalty specifications were later removed and he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Jury selection began on 5 October 2026.
