On 26 Aug 1995, 23-year-old Heather Teague disappeared from Newburgh Beach after an Indiana witness reported seeing a man grab her by the hair and lead her into the treeline, possibly at gunpoint. Pieces of her bathing suit and other items were found; she has never been found. Investigators focused on Marvin Ray “Marty” Dill, who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on 1 Sep 1995, as police moved to question him. He was never charged, and Heather’s mother disputes that he was the man seen through the telescope. Renewed DNA testing and searches have produced no breakthrough. The case remains open, and no one has been charged with Heather’s abduction or death.
